We Made it to Africa!πŸ˜πŸ¦πŸ¦›πŸ¦“πŸ¦’

We arrived in Johannesburg at 8:00 am and had to connect to our flight to Victoria Falls.  The airport had some beautiful shops, tempting the shoppers right off the bat!  I think everyone abstained, knowing full well there would be many more opportunities!

Our tour director, Ndoda, met us at the airport.  Our final flight to Victoria Falls was only 90 minutes so that felt like a piece of cake. It was so exciting to finally arrive at Victoria Falls!  We purchased our visas at customs, everything went very smoothly!  On our way to the lodge, our bus driver gave us lots of information about Zimbabwe and the area around Victoria Falls.

The A’Zambezi Lodge is situated right beside the Zambezi River, it is a beautiful setting! We had the whole afternoon to get settled in and relax.  Some people succumbed to fatigue and had a nap while some of us took a chance to get refreshed in the swimming pool!  It is the rainy season here, which means the weather can change every 15 minutes! The temperature was very pleasant and the clouds rolled in and out, a mixture of mainly sunshine with some clouds and very brief showers.

We were told that there is a hippo that likes to visit on occasion, they have named him Sebastian.  We were lucky enough to get a glimpse of Sebastian on the opposite side of the river!

We gathered in the evening for a welcome drink and quick meeting with Ndoda.  Then we went to our welcome dinner where we were treated to a group of young, local musicians performing  traditional music.  The supper was a buffet with tremendous variety.  We had the opportunity to eat crocodile, wart hog and Kudu, as well as more familiar foods like chicken, beef and pork!  It’s a great chance to try exotic food!

We didn’t need much convincing to head to bed early.  In fact, I fell asleep as I began to write this post, so I am now finishing it in the morning.

Once again I am having some trouble with getting my camera pictures on to my iPad! 😑. I will post some that I took with my phone and hope that I get the camera problem resolved by the time the animal pictures roll in!
